VIX-SPY variance-correlation – ONLY nimble traders should trade based opn this metric! I has NOT proven to be “infallible”!
Copper is bullish.
Volatility is still with us – be forewarned!
The global hyper-inflation, the global supply chain dislocations, and of course – the war -- all of these negative factors are certainly not helpful for the bulls’ case.
Risk-off (Bearish):
Everything else:
WTI-crude, VIX, VVIX, QQQ, SPY
A cautionary note to keep in mind (IMHO we are not yet seeing a confirmed bottom in the market) - as Doug Casey said in a recent interview - we are in a chaotic period in global markets.
Conclusion:
For next week, the algo indicates that the Bears are in control.
The Bulls are on the sidelines- possibly due to the highest inflation rate in 41 years – not to mention the war!
It doesn’t help that the global supply chain is totally FRACTURED!
Some say we are entering a global depression – not so much a recession. What do YOU think?3
Doug Casey opines that we are indeed headed to the big “D”! He forecasts a bond market collapse and a stock market crash. He recommends the intermediate size oil companies. NOT the big ones!
Casey likes uranium stocks as well. He says he is long uranium stocks.
Interestingly, he likes the Uzbekistan stock market. I would NOT recommend investing there – unless you do your extensive due diligence. He mentioned it would be sort of a “lotto play” – Very risky!
IMHO I do not think we have seen the bottom – I always like to see at least a 3 week period in which the market is in a bull trend. Even then, the market can still sustain a bull trap or a so-called head fake for a prolonged period. Be careful in trading for the next one to two weeks!
I am tracking the weekly price movement of QQQ during 2022:
So, Moving forward, QQQ was a hypothetical “Buy” on 01/03/2020 at $401.68. IMHO this correction of QQQ remains in an indefinite period of profound weakness! No sign of a definitive bottom from this point moving forward!
Each week, I indicate the profit or loss, based on this (pretend) entry point. Let’s see where it ends up at the end of 2022!
As of 06/17/2022, this hypothetical trade shows a loss of $ 126.99 (QQQ was $274.69 at the close on 06/17/2022).

I am indebted to Robin Horsfall’s compelling and timely articles- originally published on LinkedIn! One of these follows- very “spot-on::
Vlad The Invader
'Vlad the Invader'
The earliest indications that Russia was short of infantry was during the first advance on Kyiv in February. An army of tanks advanced towards the capital of Ukraine without infantry protection. Infantry protect armour against enemy infantry. Tanks have limited vision. They cannot see individuals in bushes or clear mines or shoot at high buildings from close range. Without foot soldiers they are vulnerable. Russia's tanks were ambushed by small units armed with light shoulder fired anti-tank weapons who stopped the column's advance and wreaked havoc on the invading army.
The second indication showed when Russia divided it's forces on three fronts. Kyiv, Donbas and Kherson. The Kherson advance in the south was the most successful, advancing as far a the Dnipro River. In Kyiv they retreated, in Kharkiv they halted and withdrew and in Donbass they struggled. Russia failed to concentrate their forces and were weak everywhere. They withdrew troops from the south to mount operations in Donbass and made limited progress but their attacks were small; often using units of less than 600 men. They nibble at the edges but don't have enough infantry to make a serious offensive. An attacking army generally needs a three to one advantage.
The third indication is the use of irregular forces from Chechnya, Syria and the Donetsk People's Republic (eastern Ukraine). These non Russians are being fed into the battle, badly equipped and badly trained as a substitute for Russians who no longer want to fight. The Russian soldier has lost too many friends.
Finally, Russia has resorted to the use of artillery at long range, indicating that there are not enough soldiers to make a ground attack until the target has been smashed to rubble and there are no occupants remaining.
On the road to Kyiv it is estimated that Russia lost 30,000 dead and 60,000 wounded. To get some perspective this is the equivalent of wiping out the whole British army including reserves! This war is NOT 'a special military operation'.
Ukraine has mobilised it's male, adult population to defend their homeland and although there is little doubt that they too are taking heavy casualties, they believe in their cause and want to engage the enemy. The Russians are running out of infantry and even if they conscript more it is unlikely that they will have the heart to fight.
One point more. I watched the UK national news tonight. Ukraine didn't get a mention in the first fifteen minutes. The media have moved on to local priorities like 'immigration'. We must focus their attention back onto 'Vlad the Invader' and remind everyone that Ukraine is the big story. Death, starvation and famine are the results of war, the longer it lasts the worse it gets. We must continue to share our treasure and guns with Ukraine to ensure that Russia leaves the battlefield a broken force.
